Ok, I'll spill the beans. This one is by an absolutely brilliant builder in Madison, WI. He's good looking too. And nice, and modest. Oh, wait...no, I built it. It's just shameless self promo. This one I'm pretty proud of though. The build is clean but what I like most is the electronics. I had several calls with Tom Jones (of TV Jones) and he talked me through a custom wiring schematic that just ROCKS! I put a resister and capacitor in parallel on the vol pot to increase the roll off and still maintain the highs. That worked beautifully. Then we wrapped the ground wire around the hot wire connecting the two pots. That in turn sort of made a third, very weak pickup. So the tone pot rolls from very brassy and hot to extremely mellow. I really like it and wish it could stay but it's on it's way to Nashville as I type. Thanks for looking. P |

Paul, that's one COOL guitar! The arching looks pretty radical--are the plates carved? |

WOW...I was almost certain it was a Watkins model! That's a compliment since his electric stuff is always so impressive. I love the lines and color...do you have any closeups? Paul...Sorry I called you a golfer ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I like it a lot! I'll second Ken's request, and if you have a wiring diagram that would be great... |

HESH WINS!!! It is a Lowden. *SMACK* (paul is awakened) Wha..who..wha..oh, that was a dream. No, it's sooooooo very far from a Lowden. Tim, it's only the dark side once removed as the paint is 100% transparent. Unlike that 4A Maple back that I painted opaque BLACK. I had to ask folks at Montreal to look into the f holes to prove that it was solid wood. So a few more details. Carved plates, Parallel braced with struts shaped into the braces to hold the pickups. #10 threaded inserts are tapped into these braces and the pickups are screwed into the inserts with springs behind them to adjust height. Arnt, send me your address and I'll mail you a schematic. I've only got a hard copy as I'm in the middle of a computer crash/ recovery situation. |
